France: Deinove and VTT sign research partnership agreement

French biofuel company Deinove has signed a research partnership agreement with Finnish technical research centre VTT. Ten researchers from VTT will work with Deinove scientists and French academic partners. The goal is to develop a integrated process for the bioproduction of ethanol and other chemical products from renewable raw materials. The partnership is part of the EUR 21.4mn (USD 26.76mn) Deinol project, which involves two public labs one at the University of Montpellier and another at research centre in Toulouse. Studies will concern ways to exploit the biomass digestion properties of Deinococcus bacteria. The top performing bacteria will go on to a pilot programme run by the sugar company Tereos. The sugar company injected EUR 1mn (USD 1.25mn) into Deinove's capital when the biofuel company entered the stock market in late April 2010.
